The gulf of Mondello was a marshy area until the reclamation work of 1891, which brought the zone to a process of expansion and evolution and turned Mondello in the seat of the high bourgeoisie and aristocracy.
The nobility of the city fostered the construction of exclusive and aristocratic circles and beautiful Liberty style villas. In fact, this earthly paradise, is characterized by Liberty style constructions distinguished by beautiful floral patterns and lush gardens.
The beach of Mondello is located 11 km from the city centre of Palermo, between Mount Pellegrino and Mount Gallo.
The beach is known throughout the world for the beauty of its fine white sand and clear water. The sand of Mondello is mainly made up of fragments of marine organisms’ shells, which confer a pink chromatic effect along the seashore, visible mainly in spring.
